“What’s Behind that Frame?”

Objective:

How it’ll work is that every student will need to submit 1-2 photos of a certain subject or object behind a peeking door. This can be a opening door, an opening window, a book, a wall, etc. Now don’t get this confused with a peeking assignment as this is not intended to be a peeking photo because you shouldn’t be primarily focused on one part of the subject. There is an example to the left that represents the idea of the photo.

Assignment Details:

The picture (s) should look suspenseful and create possible tension. It’s like revealing something that is either meaningful to you, something you wanna spread awareness on, a surprise, etc.

Exploration:

The setting and Environment doesn’t matter a whole lot with this photo assignment. Generally, there should be a frame like a window, or door, etc. You can see examples below! You should have a specific object or subject to focus on. They can be placed between the window opening, a person walking in through a door, a childhood toy that you lost hiding behind a book, etc.

Photography:

You should shoot your photo at an angle where the frame covers about half or less then half of the photo. The photo should clearly show the subject behind or coming through the frame 🙂

Editing and Composition:

You may edit it to make the photo darker or lighter to help create the tension that is asked of the photo. However, the angle that you get take the photo from should also help and provide more of the feelings in the photo.

Submission:

Please submit 1-2 photos of a certain subject or object behind a peeking door.

Tools Needed:

You can use your iPhone cameras and your normal photo cameras! I encourage you to use your photo cameras for more of a crisp photo.

Additional Notes:

• Safety: Please take pictures of appropriate things and at an appropriate angle as mentioned.

• Mindfulness: Please do not disrupt other classes! I am sure that with permission from Mr. Miller, you can use some toys and things around the classroom to help create your photo. Ask for permission and be aware of your surroundings 🙂

Final Notes:

Be creative!! This is a fun photo assignment! I want this to be an assignment where you can purposely create tension or even spread some awareness on subjects you feel like aren’t talked about much. This could be medals hanging on a wall behind a door frame, awards, art pieces, etc. This photo assignment can help you enlighten hidden talents! Please have fun and enjoy 🙂
