Technical:
This semester has been more about continuing to take pictures than learning new skills. The only “new” thing I can recall is a reminder of how to move the focus box around the screen. It’s handy at times but a bit tedious, so often, I just use single focus, focusing on my object and then moving to the composition I want.
Personal:
Over the last summer and a bit earlier this year, I found a bit of interest in getting good animal photography but otherwise, I carry my style over from last year into this year’s pictures. As of this semester, photography hasn’t changed my perspective any more than last year. Last year I just noticed I pay more attention to small things or the lighting of the day when I’m carrying a camera than I would otherwise really notice.
Creative:
Some of my favorite pictures are of the squirrel from the coast and the raven from the Oregon coast. The angles I got are nice, especially on the squirrel. More than the creative side I like the difficulty of getting a good wildlife picture. I don’t work with the basis of a shortlist almost ever but I guess I was inspired for these pictures by a crow that was practically posing and the squirrel that would not move. It didn’t care that my lense was two inches from its face, the hole it was digging was too important.
