I learned a lot about focal length and even lighting during the process of shooting each picture and I can confidently say that I understand aperture. I definitely feel like this was the easiest assignment because of how quickly I understood what I was really doing and because I had a better idea of the types of pictures I wanted to capture. I enjoyed taking pictures of the nature that surrounded me. Seeing the fine details in a lot of the foreground pictures I took was beautiful. At my home, there were a lot of objects inside and outside that I was able to get great pictures of, including the window sticker that I decided to display. The campus had several places and people that I was able to take great pictures of. I got lots of photos of friends and family. My family was very impressed with me which made me feel kind of like a little kid showing off my finger paintings, but it was very lovely. Overall, I’d say the Aperture Priority assignment was easy for me to figure out and I had a great time with it.

Shutter Priority Reflection – Brice Kingsbury https://redwood.photography/2023/09/13/shutter-priority-reflection-brice-kingsbury/ https://redwood.photography/2023/09/13/shutter-priority-reflection-brice-kingsbury/#respond Wed, 13 Sep 2023 18:08:51 +0000 https://redwood.photography/?p=5637 The shutter priority assignment introduced me to new techniques associated with photography. I would be lying if I said I found understanding shutter speed to be easy, however it was an enjoyable challenge. A lot of times, I found myself taking pictures that captured way too much light or photos that were way too dark. Thankfully, I was able to come to a better understanding of how to control the shutter speed of a picture with more practice. I’d often find myself taking multiple pictures of a subject, fully expecting them to come out a blurry and uninteresting mess. I was shocked by the quality of many of my pictures, which led me to find an interest in the artistic style I want my future pictures to convey. I fell in love with slow shutter speed pictures. They show much more movement within subjects and the way that every movement is shown as a streak or blur is something that I definitely want to experiment with moving forward. I received a lot of help from friends, who provided me with time to improve my shots and gave me advice on different shutter speeds. I feel happy with the pictures I’ve chosen to display on my portfolio in this regard. I feel like they demonstrate my understanding of the assignment and leave room for my to improve on what I am already proud of. In spite of the difficulty I faced initially, I feel much more comfortable with the shutter priority and I am excited to further develop my photography skills.

Your reflection shows a good grasp of the complexities of shutter speed and a willingness to experiment, which is encouraging. It’s also evident that you’ve learned from the challenges you faced, which is a valuable part of the learning process.-MLR
