It is mainly up to you when you learn. You learn from your mistakes and you do that by criticizing yourself and your work. When you criticize yourself you shape yourself into becoming a better image that you want to be.

What I Learned from Designing a Page https://redwood.photography/2023/02/10/what-i-learned-from-designing-a-page-3/ https://redwood.photography/2023/02/10/what-i-learned-from-designing-a-page-3/#respond Fri, 10 Feb 2023 16:58:17 +0000 https://redwood.photography/?p=3020 The hardest part of this project was the learning curve with photoshop. Before this I’ve only used photoshop for color correcting and image based stuff. With this project though I had to work with trying to get a background that fit with the foreground. Then there was the text which was surprisingly hard for me, only because I didn’t know where the other fonts were. I overcame this learning curve by just trial and error and seeing what works. Another difficult part of the process was figuring out what to even do for a hose nozzle advertisement. I took a lot of different pictures in different settings to get the one I liked. Then eventually I found one and just rolled with it.

Valuable Feet https://redwood.photography/2023/01/13/valuable-feet/ https://redwood.photography/2023/01/13/valuable-feet/#respond Fri, 13 Jan 2023 17:12:06 +0000 https://redwood.photography/?p=2217

Why are feet so valuable to a photographer? Well to answer that simply they’re valuable because they can give you a better angle. Feet are especially valuable if you’re using a prime/fixed lens because you can’t zoom in or out. Then you have to basically use your feet to get closer or further from your subject to get the shot you want. Then if you want to get a different perspective of something, like looking up, then you have to squat down and stabilize yourself with your feet. Your feet also play a big part in stabilization especially if you’re using a really zoomed in lens because it’s going to be extremely sensitive when you move. Then in order to get a better stabilization you need to spread your feet and balance yourself.

Ideas About Themes https://redwood.photography/2022/12/13/ideas-about-themes/ https://redwood.photography/2022/12/13/ideas-about-themes/#respond Tue, 13 Dec 2022 23:45:55 +0000 https://redwood.photography/?p=1914

With photography there is just about unlimited themes a photographer can go by. There’s a camera and a lens for pretty much any situation for photographers. Just like how there’s a different idea for any theme that a photographer is given. Having a theme can either help a photographer or prove to be difficult. For me it was easier having a winter theme because I’ve been struggling to come up with ideas for photos. Since I got a theme it allowed me to really just think about one subject and revolve my work around it. Although it did kind of limit my creativity with this project, I still had a enjoyable time and was able to pull something off in the end.

Natural light Portrait https://redwood.photography/2022/12/02/natural-light-portrait/ https://redwood.photography/2022/12/02/natural-light-portrait/#respond Fri, 02 Dec 2022 17:51:56 +0000 https://redwood.photography/?p=1574

I don’t know the name of the photographer that took this photo, but they sure did do a good job. With the leading lines on the window and the subject being off-center it makes this photo all that more impactful. With the light only shining on half of the person’s body it makes it seem like there is a darker side to this character. Then the camera being angled to cut off some of the window ,making it uneven, gives more of a natural feel to this portrait. The subject’s head is perfectly lined up with the middle part of the window making it feel almost cinematic.

Then there’s the actual camera settings. This photographer chose to have a smaller aperture that way the background isn’t totally blurred out and we have more context as to where the subject is and where they’re looking out to. This helps with the total story telling of this image. They also used the lowest ISO as possible in order to keep the integrity of this portrait, making it look a lot more crisp. Based upon the low light and the picture not being blurry, I’m guessing the photographer used a tripod to capture this.

All in all this portrait is a great example of composition and problem solving. This will definitely inspire my work and it has made me think about how I can make my work even better.

With art such as; music, painting, photography, etc. their inspiration can be seen in their work sometimes. My inspiration for my creativity comes from my humor, past life changing events, food, my family, my friends, video games, music, social media, Visalia, other people’s work, nature, movies, hakuna matata, rain, poetry, and impacting people.
