  • “You know, I really don’t think you learn from teachers. You learn from work. I think what you learn, really, is how to be – you have to be your own toughest critic, and you only learn that from work, from seeing work.” -Garry Winogrand
  • In ways I do believe this to be true and others not so much. I do believe we must learn from someone then we continue to learn more from there. Need to begin by being taught somewhere then begin to gain experience. Once you see your own work then you can be the judge of how well you do and how you should improve. Can’t learn if you haven’t done it because you don’t know what it is you need to work on. You can be the person that is tough on yourself to push for better other than expecting others to do it for you.

Why are feet a really valuable tool for photographers?  https://redwood.photography/2022/12/14/ideas-about-themes-2/ https://redwood.photography/2022/12/14/ideas-about-themes-2/#respond Wed, 14 Dec 2022 22:31:05 +0000 https://redwood.photography/?p=1951 Look up Critique:

Some may wonder why feet are such an important tool for photographers but they are. There are lenses that zoom to an extreme amount but there are cons with these lenses. If the farther distance the lens reaches, the less quality of the photo. These long distance lenses have a higher f/stop than a shorter lens. An important lens for a photographer is a 50 mm lens and it is the same distance as our eyes which isn’t far. Although it has a lower f/stop giving it that background blur that you may want to achieve. In some cases it does help to use a longer lens such as when you can’t reach your subject so you zoom. But in most cases we are able to move around and get a better shot.

    What I learned from designing a page https://redwood.photography/2022/11/18/my-inspiration-4/ https://redwood.photography/2022/11/18/my-inspiration-4/#respond Fri, 18 Nov 2022 19:41:47 +0000 https://redwood.photography/?p=1311 Dollar Store Critiques:

What I found challenging about this Dollar Store was finding inspiration on how to use the item which was a frog. I couldn’t think of how to advertise a frog was to use some sort of animal organization to save the wildlife. Another challenging thing was the editing that took place because I wasn’t sure how to format everything.

One thing I found challenging about this project was looking for inspiration. The item we got was a frog and at first it seemed to be difficult to advertise. We thought of how we can direct this towards animals so we made an ad for an animal organization. The idea came from National Geographic with the photos of animals.
