M Mode Project

This project was meant to show our understanding of the camera's features and how to use them to create the effect you want using an object of your choice. I decided to depict my skills using a simple pencil. I tried to show a range of different techniques by putting the pencil in different lights and spaces.

Liminal Space Project

The main focus of this project was to capture liminal spaces. My interpretation of liminal spaces is very dark and moody and I tried to capture that within my photos. I wanted to capture this lonely and dark feeling within places that were void of anything.

Abstract Scavenger Project

The scavenger project was focused on conveying abstract concepts, such as joy and serenity, within our pictures. I decided to interpret the majority of these concepts using the landscape around my house and manipulating light to better convey the emotion I was going for in each picture. You can see this within my serenity picture, where I used golden hour lighting to enhance my dogs sleeping face.

Masters Project - Sally Mann

The point of the master's project was to imitate a renowned photographer to the best of our ability. I decided to attempt to imitate Sally Mann. I found her work to be really interesting, specifically her "At Twelve" collection and her Candy Cigarette photo. I think the overall message she was trying to send within these photos is the idea that children are constantly surrounded and subjected to things that are considered adult that they can't help but want to imitate. This results in children doing things they are far too young to genuinely understand the weight of its meaning. I attempted to recreate the feeling of these photos with my sister.

Panning Project

The panning project was focused on our ability to capture this concept while also attempting to view our environments in a different light.
