Starting Out
I was weary when I first joined this class because it seemed complicated at first, and I wasn't sure if it was for me. After a couple of trials and errors, I started figuring out what I did and didn't like. Although I do still get confused on what to do sometimes, over this last semester, I quickly gained a new interest.
Mastering Technique
Starting I didn't have a technique I would just take a picture and if it came out the way I wanted it to then I would consider it a good picture. Now, I like to make sure the person or thing I am shooting is the main focus of my photo. I also make sure I at least can see someone's face in the shot just so I can capture the emotion behind a person and I use this specifically when I'm shooting wrestling. With any picture I take, I try to think about the other person especially if I know them, and think of how they'd want themselves to be photographed and that at least something is felt there.
Seeing the World Differently
Using my camera, I've realized that you can capture so many beautiful moments, as well as exciting ones. This semester, I grew a love for sports photography and especially like shooting wrestling. When you tell somebody you took pictures of them and see them get posted, it makes me feel like I'm doing a nice thing and it's cool seeing other people liking your work too
Favorite Work
My favorite work from this semester is when I went to shoot Club Day. I had a lot of fun seeing all the different pictures I took and just feeling the excitement of Club Day through each photo and also being able to take pictures for our AVID class. With that gallery, one of my photos got published in the Gigantea which was also pretty cool.
Looking Ahead
I'm excited to go into the second semester and I want to continue to get better at taking photos. A big thing for me is making other people happy with the photos I take so I want to continue doing that as well.
